Strand: Christian Ethics – Personal and Social (CEL9-10E1)

Levels 9 and 10

Change, human brokenness, reconciliation, renewal and rebuilding are characteristics of being human. Drawing hope from the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, Christians attend to these characteristics of human frailty.

Identify acts of healing, forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration in the Catholic tradition as a means for enabling the human person, as a free agent, to manage life’s struggles and joys.

Elaborations

Sin, which can also be characterised as human brokenness is an alienation or estrangement from God.

From the Catholic Christian perspective, discerning what is the correct choice or the right path for reconciliation, renewal and rebuilding, requires knowledge, skills, understandings and pathways to the mind, heart and teachings of Jesus Christ, the Church, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the prompting of informed conscience.
